Abstract

Permasalahan emisi gas buang pada kendaraan bermotor terus menjadi isu
dalam upaya pengendalian pencemaran udara, khususnya pada kendaraan lama
yang masih banyak beroperasi, seperti Suzuki Carry Pick Up 1.0 tahun 1990 di
Kabupaten Boyolali. Kendaraan ini kerap gagal dalam uji emisi meskipun sudah
menggunakan bahan bakar Pertalite. Untuk itu dilakukan eksperimen pertalite
dengan butanol, lowkos dan prestone guna menurunkan emisi gas buang pada CO
dan HC dan memenuhi standar uji emisi pada pemilik kendaraan lama.
Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen, guna mengetahui variasi
campuran apa yang dapat menurunkan emisi gas buang pada Suzuki Carry Pick Up
1.0 sebagai solusi bagi pemilik kendaraan lama dalam memenuhi standar uji emisi.
Setiap campuran disimpan selama 24 jam sebelum pengujian, untuk memastikan
kestabilan larutan, kemudian diuji menggunakan gas analyzer untuk mengukur
kadar CO dan HC.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa campuran Pertalite dengan Butanol dan
Lowkos memberikan nilai emisi gas buang terendah dibandingakan dengan pertalite
saja, yaitu CO sebesar 3,57% dan HC sebesar 418 ppm, serta campuran Pertalite
900 ml + Butanol 50 ml + Prestone 50 ml yang menghasilkan CO sebesar 3,71%
dan HC sebesar 684 ppm. Nilai tersebut berada di bawah ambang batas emisi yang
telah ditentukan, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa kombinasi ini efektif dalam
menurunkan emisi kendaraan lama yang sebelumnya tidak lulus uji emisi.

Uncontrolled Keywords: The issue of exhaust gas emissions from motor vehicles continues to be a concern in the efforts to control air pollution, especially with older vehicles that are still widely in operation, such as the 1990 Suzuki Carry Pick Up 1.0 in Boyolali Regency. This vehicle often fails the emission test even though it has been using Pertalite fuel. Therefore, an experiment was conducted using Pertalite with an butanol, lowkos and prestone to reduce exhaust gas emissions of CO and HC and to meet the emission test standards for owners of older vehicles. This research uses experimental methods to determine which mixture variations can reduce exhaust gas emissions in the Suzuki Carry Pick Up 1.0 as a solution for owners of old vehicles to meet emission testing standards. Each mixture is stored for 24 hours before testing to ensure solution stability, then tested using a gas analyzer to measure CO and HC levels. The research results show that the mixture of Pertalite with Butanol and Lowkos produces the lowest exhaust gas emissions compared to Pertalite alone, with CO at 3.57% and HC at 418 ppm, as well as the mixture of Pertalite 900 ml + Butanol 50 ml + Prestone 50 ml which results in CO at 3.71% and HC at 684 ppm. These values are below the established emission threshold, thus it can be concluded that this combination is effective in reducing emissions from old vehicles that previously did not pass the emission test.
