Abstract

Good braking efficiency is necessary to ensure the vehicle can stop quickly
and safely, especially in emergency situations. There are several factors that can
affect efficiency, such as air pressure and the condition of the tires when wet and
dry. This study aims to determine whether there is any effect of wind pressure above
standard (39 PSi), according to standard (29 PSi), or below standard (19 PSi) when
the tires are wet and dry on braking efficiency using a brake tester. This research
can be used as a standard for UPPKB prior to testing brake efficiency.
This research was conducted using an experimental method with variations
in air pressure (39 PSi, 29 PSi, and 19 PSi) on wet and dry tire conditions and was
carried out with five tests and then the average was taken. The data analysis used in
this research is descriptive quantitative. The results of this study are when the tires
are wet, the air pressure increases from 39 PSi to 16% to 19 PSi. When the tires
were dry, the air pressure increased from 39 PSi to 13.75%. In addition, the
condition of the tires also affects the efficiency of the brakes. Air pressure of 39
PSi, there is a 34.8% decrease from dry tires to wet tires. At a wind pressure of 29
PSi, there is a decrease in efficiency of 33.75%, and at a wind pressure of 19 PSi,
there is a decrease of 32.55%.

Penelitian ini dapat digunakan sebagai rekomendasi bagi UPPKB sebelum dilakukannya pengujian efisiensi rem. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode eksperimental dengan variasi tekanan angin (39 PSi, 29 PSi, dan 19 PSi) pada kondisi ban basah dan kering dan dilakukan dengan lima kali pengujian lalu diambil rata – ratanya. Analisis data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah ketika kondisi ban sedang basah tekanan angin dari 39 PSi mengalami kenaikan sebesar 16% sampai 19 PSi. Ketika kondisi ban kering tekanan angin dari 39 PSi mengalami kenaikan sebesar 13,75%. Selain itu kondisi ban juga berpengaruh pada efisiensi rem. tekanan angin 39 PSi terdapat penurunan 34,8% dari kondisi ban kering ke ban basah. Pada tekanan angin 29 PSi terdapat penurunan efisiensi sebesar 33,75% serta pada tekanan angin 19 PSi terdapat penurunan sebesar 32,55%.
