Abstract
Tires are one of the important components in the braking system.
Unfavorable tire conditions can cause tires bursts and braking system failure due to
thin tire groove conditions. Selection of the use of tire products is very influential
on the efficiency of braking force. What's more, the selection of tire products that
are not original tires / original tires, the widespread use of retreaded tires that are
not suitable for use, moreover their use violates the rules, of course, more attention
must be paid because they are very dangerous from a safety perspective. This study
aims to determine the potential effect of retreaded tire tread depth and original tire
tread depth on the braking efficiency of motorized vehicles and to determine
whether there is a difference between the braking efficiency of retreaded tires and
the brake efficiency of original tires.
This study uses experimental methods to examine certain samples. The
technique used is a simple random sampling technique to take samples from a
certain population which is done randomly without regard to the existing strata in
the population. In this study, the critical condition on retreaded tires occurred at a
tread depth of 2 mm with an efficiency of 51.58% while the critical condition on
the original tire occurred at a tread depth of 1.6 mm with an efficiency of 50.5%.
This critical condition is a condition where the depth of the tire tread must be
replaced or is no longer suitable for use.

| Uncontrolled Keywords: | Ban sebagai salah satu komponen penting dalam sistem pengereman. Kondisi ban yang kurang baik dapat menyebabkan terjadinya pecah ban dan kegagalan sistem pengereman karena kondisi alur ban yang tipis. Pemilihan penggunaan produk ban sangat berpengaruh terhadap efisiensi gaya pengereman. Terlebih lagi pemilihan produk ban yang bukan ban asli/ ban orisinilnya, Maraknya penggunaan ban vulkanisir yang tidak layak dipakai terlebih lagi penggunaannya menyalahi aturan tentu saja harus lebih diperhatikan karena sangat membahayakan dari segi keamanan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi pengaruh kedalaman alur ban vulkanisir dan kedalaman alur ban orisinil terhadap efisiensi pengereman kendaraan bermotor dan mengetahui apakah terdapat perbedaan antara efisiensi pengereman ban vulkanisir dan efisiensi rem ban orisinil. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen untuk meneliti sampel tertentu. Teknik yang digunakan merupakan teknik simple random sampling untuk mengambil sampel dari populasi tertentu yang dilakukan secara acak tanpa memperhatikan strata yang ada dalam populasi tersebut. Pada penelitian ini didapatkan kondisi kritis pada ban vulkanisir terjadi pada kedalaman alur ban 2 mm dengan efisiensi 51,58% sedangkan kondisi kritis pada ban orisinil terjadi pada kedalaman alur ban 1,6 mm dengan efisiensi 50,5%. Kondisi kritis ini merupakan kondisi dimana kedalaman alur ban tersebut sudah harus diganti atau sudah tidak layak dipakai. Kata Kunci: kondisi kritis, sistem pengereman |
