Abstract

Measurement of ground clearance is included in the dimensional measurement section in the technical requirements. Measuring ground clearance is also often a challenge for testers. The main objective is that the tester must enter under the vehicle to take measurements. This research aims to assist testers in measuring ground clearance with additional tools in the form of the HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor.
This research uses the Research and Development (R&D) development method. Development research is the main choice to produce new innovations in all aspects of life. In this study, it aims to produce a new product that can function as a ground clearance measurement tool. The model used in this study is according to Borg and Gall. The purpose of this research is to find out the design of assistive devices and to know the procedure for using assistive devices. The results of the study showed that there was a measurement value with an assistive device that was not much different from the results of the APM specification. With an error rate of 2.60% and for an accuracy level of 97.40% in one type of vehicle under JBB 3500 kg. Based on the results of the comparison of these values, it can be said that measurements with assistive devices are more effective to be carried out because they can facilitate the examiner's task.
