Abstract

According to the investigation by the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT), accidents involving goods vehicles in Indonesia are often caused by brake failure due to overheating. This occurs because the hydraulic brake system in these vehicles uses brake fluid to transfer pressure from the brake pedal to the wheel cylinders. The brake system is crucial, especially for goods vehicles that frequently carry heavy loads. The performance of the brake system is influenced by the quality of the brake fluid, which depends on its water content and boiling point. An increase in the water content of the brake fluid can lower its boiling point, leading to brake system failure under extreme conditions. Therefore, it is important for vehicle users to regularly check the water content in the brake fluid.
This study aims to measure and analyze the efficiency of the brake systems in goods vehicles based on the water content and boiling point of the brake fluid. The study concludes that regular monitoring of the water content and boiling point of the brake fluid is essential for maintaining the efficiency of the brake systems in goods vehicles. The results of the study show a negative relationship between the water content in the brake fluid and its boiling point. The higher the water content, the lower the boiling point of the brake fluid.

Ini terjadi karena sistem rem hidrolik pada kendaraan menggunakan minyak rem untuk mentransfer tekanan dari pedal rem ke silinder roda. Sistem rem sangat penting, terutama pada mobil barang yang sering mengangkut muatan berat. Kinerja sistem rem dipengaruhi oleh kualitas minyak rem, yang bergantung pada kadar air dan titik didihnya. Peningkatan kadar air dalam minyak rem dapat menurunkan titik didih dan menyebabkan kegagalan sistem rem dalam kondisi ekstrem. Oleh karena itu, penting bagi pengguna kendaraan untuk rutin memeriksa kadar air dalam minyak rem. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur dan menganalisis efisiensi sistem rem pada mobil barang berdasarkan kadar air dan titik didih minyak rem. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa pemantauan rutin kadar air dan titik didih minyak rem sangat penting untuk menjaga efisiensi sistem rem pada mobil barang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan negatif antara kadar air dalam minyak rem dengan titik didihnya. Semakin tinggi kadar air, semakin rendah titik didih minyak rem.
